REPRESENTATIVE
PROJECTS
Remedial Action at
the St. Louis Airport Site. SaLUT performed the first phase
of the remedial action at the St. Louis Airport Site under the
Department of Energy Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program
(FUSRAP). In the 1940s, the site had been used by the Manhattan
Engineer District to store residue from uranium ore processing in the
St. Louis area. This project was performed as a turnkey operation.
SaLUT's responsibilities included detailed design to meet the
performance specifications, health and safety planning, excavation,
transportation and disposal of contaminated material, liner
construction and quality control, and site restoration. SaLUT designed
sediment and erosion controls and developed an emergency plan to
prevent off-site contamination during construction.
Department of State.
Industrial Hygiene Services. Under three successive
five-year contracts, SaLUT provides environmental engineering services
to the U.S. Department of State at U.S. embassies, consulates, and
other posts worldwide. Services include evaluating underground storage
tank (UST) systems, designing and overseeing removal of leaking USTs,
evaluating groundwater and surface water for hydrocarbon
contamination, and conducting Phase I and Phase II ESAs.
Metropolitan
Washington Airports Authority. On-Call Environmental Services Since
the 1990's SaLUT has been providing environmental services on an
on-call basis at both at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and
Dulles International Airport. Activities include storm water
management investigations, environmental site investigations in
support of on-going construction and expansion activities, wetlands
assessments, and compliance support.
SunTrust Bank. Environmental
Site Assessments Since 1996, SaLUT has performed more than 250
Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in Maryland,
Virginia, and the District of Columbia for SunTrust Bank and its
predecessors, Crestar Bank and Citizens Bank of Maryland. These
services are provided for new loans as well as re-financing agreements
that SunTrust writes with its clients. All Phase I ESAs are conducted
in accordance with SunTrust's special requirements for ESAs that
include historical research, environmental database research,
interviews with past and present owners/tenants, titles searches and
site inspections. These requirements are based upon, but are stricter
than, the ASTM (Standard E 1527) Phase I ESA requirements.
U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers, Baltimore, MD. Remedial Design, North Penn Area 1 Site
Performed project planning, field data acquisition/sample
analysis, data evaluation, design, and preparation of plans and
specifications for soil and groundwater remediation of this NPL site.
Groundwater and soil on this site were contaminated with
tetrachloroethylene (PCE).
U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers, Baltimore, MD. Groundwater Monitoring Program for
former NIKE missile facility, PA. Designed and executed a
groundwater sampling program to evaluate the effects of seasonal water
table fluctuations on groundwater quality, to ensure that volatile
organics and petroleum hydrocarbons from leaking underground storage
tanks did not reach the groundwater. |
